Epiclesis

You, You, You!

Jesus' baptism, at least the record of it found in Luke's Gospel, is rather, well, anticlimactic. Kind of mundane. The account itself is rather short, and then it's followed by a very lengthy genealogy. Of course, there's the very dramatic word from the Father and the descending of the Spirit, but in some ways, those seem almost intimate and private in this account. What's Luke doing?
