The Fixed Foot
Two (perhaps unlikely) inspirations came together in this teaching time as we considered 2 Timothy 2:8-14: A favorite sonnet by John Donne, and a beloved Twila Paris song that we had just sung in worship that morning. Both, in their own way, paint contrasts-- the song, "Fountain of Grace," and the poem, "A Valediction Forbidding Mourning"-- and they helped on this occasions to underscore the Scripture's insight into God's faithfulness.
