There are two kinds of fear in the Bible: a good kind, and a bad kind. We saw both kinds in the same story-- and in the same person-- in this Sunday's Scripture passage. Two mountaintops figure into this particular story in the life of Elijah the Prophet, and it's in those two places where we see both kinds of fear at work. Jerome, the Church Father, says that the bad kind of fear springs from a "disturbance of the soul."
