And He Yaf Tent to Me

There's a wonderful phrase in the Wycliffe Bible translation of Psalm 40, right in the place where the psalmist talks about the Lord turning to him and lifting him out of the slimy pit: "And he yaf tent to me."  What can we learn from a Bible translation from the late 14th century that uses Middle English? And what in the world does "tent" mean in this context?
