Hoping you’ll join us on Saturday, May 17, at 5:30 PM, for Movie Time at the Chapter House. The feature? The multiple Academy Award-winning film “A Man for All Seasons” starring Paul Scofield, Vanessa Redgrave, Orson Welles, and John Hurt (120 minutes, rated G).
This sumptuous historical costume drama from 1966 focuses on the true story of Sir Thomas More who stood up to King Henry VIII when the monarch rejected the Roman Catholic Church in order to obtain a divorce and remarry. More’s clashes with the monarch increased in intensity. A devout Catholic and the King’s Lord Chancellor, More stood by his religious principles and tooks measures to leave the royal court. Unfortunately, the King and his loyalists weren’t appeased and pressed forward with charges of treason, further testing More’s resolve and bringing about one of the greatest moral showdowns in history.
It’s an inspirational story of moral resolve, family, devotion to country, and religious principle.
