Join Pastor Chris on Sat., Aug. 6, at 5 PM, for movie time at the Chapter House (7985 Park Drive; Fair Oaks). The film? “Da” (rated PG; 1 hour 42 minutes).
A New York playwright is summoned to Ireland to bury his father (his “Da”). While at his boyhood home, he encounters his father’s spirit and relives memories both pleasant and otherwise.
From 1988, the thought-provoking and redemptive film stars the great Barnard Hughes and William Hickey along with Martin Sheen.
The movie features an especially good music score by eminent film composer Elmer Bernstein. The original Broadway production opened in New York in May, 1978, ran for 697 performances, and won the Tony Award for Best Play.
Sound good? Can you think of some Irish goodies to share with others? Bring along some snacks and join us!
