The message for God's people in the Book of Jeremiah just gets worse and worse. The verses of chapter two hit one after another like heavy footfalls, and the passage is thick with covenant imagery and language: The Great King reminds the people of His generous providence, of where they came from, and how they got to the land of plenty.
