One of the Gospel readings for the Easter season gives the context for the theme we’ve chosen this year. Here’s the passage: “So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, ‘How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.’ Jesus answered, ‘I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name testify to me…’” (John 10:22-30). The answer was as plain as could be.
“Who is Jesus?” “Do the Scriptures really make it plain?” Those were good questions in Jesus’ day, and they’re good questions today, too. We’re going to walk through the Scripture readings for this Eastertide and see them resound with answers to that cry, “Tell us plainly:” from Peter’s impassioned sermon, to the Psalmist’s messianic foreshadowing, and from Thomas’s post-resurrection doubts, to John’s vision on Patmos of the future glory of Christ.

This Easter season we’re going to see plainly, simply, and profoundly, who Jesus is: Jesus is the Christ. He has died, He is risen, He will come again. In Him, we have life.
